As a CHW Certificate Holder since 2008, today I am regarded as a CHW Subject Matter Expert in the profession. My CHW career experience and roles include Health Educator, Program Development/Coordinator, CHW Apprentice and Student Mentor, Speaker/Presenter/Facilitator, Trainer and CHW Curriculum Author.

I entered the CHW profession with a rich and diverse medical and health care background. Within the CHW profession, I quickly became known for my work with elders, as well as for my work with adults diagnosed with mental health and chronic health diagnoses.

During my CHW career, I was an integral part of the development and launch of a post-hospitalization home-visiting program for elders. I have implemented and modeled the standards for the CHW Role and Scope of Practice, and trained CHWs as well as organizations where CHWs are employed. I am the author of the Healthy Lifestyles modules within the Minnesota CHW Certificate Training Curriculum, which is the state-approved and accredited training curriculum for CHWs. More recently, I lead the Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance's Apprenticeship Program. My current work includes CHW training, and promoting, diversifying and expanding the CHW workforce profession across the state of Minnesota. 

I am also a Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula!

My passion for the Community Health Worker role is what inspired me to start Connected Beginnings. I am fortunate to also be able to utilize my CHW role as a Doula. I have a deep passion for engaging with communities and organizations, and providing services that promote health equity and positive health outcomes.
