Why I became a Doula

​To promote the importance of perinatal health education, self-advocacy, and health awareness

To promote a feeling of empowerment & control of personal healthcare experiences for birthing persons

To help decrease the number of negative labor & birth experiences for birthing persons.

My extensive and diverse background in the healthcare and medical fields include:

Medication Training

Health education (teaching and coaching)

Working w/ people diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and mental health conditions

I am also a Community Health Worker (CHW). My professional background experience and acquired skills and specialty trainings have proven to be complimentary to my Doula role, and is an added benefit for birthing persons.

As your Doula, my goal is to provide you with person-centered and culturally aware support, along with education, information & resources that will assist you to have a positive labor & birth experience.




Doula Service Overview
All doula clients will receive perinatal health education through each phase of pregnancy, along with lactation education and resource connection if desired, at no extra cost. ​Services are provided throughout the Twin Cities/Metro area. ​

​Private-pay accepted.

State-funded insurance accepted.
(MN Healthcare Programs, Medicaid and
Medical Assistance)

​For state-funded health insurance:
Services with me will be provided at no cost if you receive state-funded insurance.

All doula clients will receive:
Before Birth

3 Prenatal appointments
(virtual and in-person):
​

Assistance with preparing your birth and postpartum plan (optional)
​

Prior births and family history, as necessary
​

Lactation education (optional)
-
Comfort techniques for use during labor
​
-
Questions, concerns and/or fears you might have
​
-
Email and phone support beginning on your 1st day of service
​

24/7 on-call support beginning at 38 to 42 weeks of pregancy
All doula clients will receive:
During Labor and Birth

Physical support using non-medical comfort approaches including
​

Hot/cold compresses
-
Comfort touch – foot/hand/back rub (gentle/soft or varied levels of pressure)
-
Guided education related to labor breaths
-
Suggestions for body positioning and body balancing
-
Non-judgmental support & education during decision making
All doula clients will receive:
Delivery and Postpartum
-
Postpartum support for up to 2 hours to make sure everyone is comfortable and settled. Includes:

1st latch assistance (if desired)
​
Within 5-10 days:
-
1 in-person postpartum appointment (virtual or in-person). We will discuss your birthing experience, joys and concerns, and how you and baby are adjusting/managing at home.​
​

Phone check-ins up to 1 months postpartum (optional and as desired by client)
​

Customized Postpartum service available upon request
